Ten thousand fleets sweep over thee in vain.
Man marks the earth with ruin, but his control stops with the shore.?

For lovers of sun and sand, the Tampa Bay region is second to none. One of our favorite beachy getaways is Caladesi Island State Park, rated as the nation’s No. 1 beach by several national publications. There you can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and beachcombing along the pristine, white sand shores. In addition, saltwater anglers can fish from their boats or throw ?lines out into the surf. Nature enthusiasts watch wildlife while hiking the three-mile nature trail through the island’s interior or paddling a three-mile kayak trail through the mangroves and bay. Picnic tables and shelters are located near the beach; picnic pavilions can be reserved for a fee. The park has a marina with electric and water hookups for boaters as well as a snack bar and gift shop. Caladesi Island is accessible only by private boat or via the Caladesi Connection ferry service. Cost for the ferry is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages four to 12. Boats leave hourly beginning at 10 a.m. and passengers are allotted a four-hour stay on the island, ensuring that it’s never crowded and will remain unspoiled for generations to come.
