And Florida’s agreeable weather makes outdoor kitchens even more desirable. “Outdoor spaces in Florida are fun because we use them 12 months out of the year,” says Sharon Cantrell of Stone Saver, a natural stone showroom in Lutz. “It’s the second favorite hangout other than the main kitchen.” Cantrell says outdoor kitchens, dining and sitting areas can be equally as beautiful and comfortable as indoor spaces. “People want outdoor kitchens; some want them contained behind closed doors and some want them wide open and out there. They want a cooking center—usually a gas-powered grill—and sometimes other cooking appliances along with refrigerators for convenience, ice machines, storage and lighting in the countertop area because sometimes it’s dark outside when you’re cooking. And they want somewhere close by to sit.”

“It used to be, only a handful of manufacturers had appliances approved for outdoor use. Now you can get everything from refrigerators to ice makers to ventilation hoods. Also, grilling used to be something men did. Now we’re seeing more men coming inside to cook and more women going outside. Wolf is introducing a brand-new grill that appeals to both genders. If you can imagine anything that you might want on a grill, this one has it.”
