Big Ideas
Our 1926 Greene and Greene-style bungalow in one of Sarasota's most wonderful in-town neighborhoods was remodeled top to bottom in 1990, just before we bought it. Seventeen years later, that means the kitchen cabinets don't quite close the way they should, the lighting is woefully outdated and the dishwasher is on its last legs. (What's that funny whining-grinding sound during the rinse cycle?)
?
?So I've been keenly anticipating this spring's Parade of Homes. I'm ready for a new kitchen, and I want lots of ideas from the area's best builders and designers to help me formulate my plans.
The Parade of Homes, profiled in a sneak preview in this issue, is a once-a-year opportunity for members of the Home Builders Associations of Sarasota and Manatee counties to strut their finest new ideas and products. It gives consumers a fun way to explore homes in a wide variety of price ranges and architectural styles, filled with the latest "gee-whiz" technologies and decorated to the nines by professional designers whose job it is to keep up with the latest trends.
?
We like to think that Homebuyer is that same kind of resource for its readers-an engaging and inspiring guide to choosing your new Sarasota, Manatee or Charlotte county home. Within these pages you'll find insider tips on the hottest neighborhoods, the latest architecture and design trends, a roundup of local schools, maps and reader-friendly community listings.
?
In this topsy-turvy period of growth in our region, with more choices of new developments in more places than ever before-from bucolic single-family neighborhoods out in the country to luxury beachfront high-rises-Homebuyer can be your most trusted tool. Plus, Homebuyer comes to you from the same creative team that brings you SARASOTA Magazine, the award-winning lifestyle publication that covers the area's liveliest people, places and leisure pursuits. So you know you're in capable hands.

I hope you enjoy this issue-and see you at the Parade!
