IN LAKE MARY, PUT DOWN ROOTS AT TWELVE OAKS

Lake Mary has for years been one of Central Florida’s most desirable locations for new-home buyers. Top-rated Seminole County schools — and proximity to both pristine recreational areas and burgeoning shopping and dining districts — have powered the city’s growth. Plus, it’s near major employment centers and accessible to downtown Orlando via I-4.

So there are plenty of options available to those seeking a Lake Mary address. Some of those opportunities are in large master-planned communities. David Weekley Homes, however, is offering an opportunity to live in a charming — and exclusive — niche of a neighborhood containing just a dozen homes.

Hence the name: Twelve Oaks. The private, gated community is offering just a handful of homes on 85- to 90-foot homesites. The homes range in size from 3,000 to 3,900 square feet and are priced from the high $400s. As of press time, there were three move-in-ready homes available.

In addition to its intimate scale, Twelve Oaks has another big plus going for it. The homes are David Weekley Homes, which are known for creative floorplans, finely detailed designs and stylish finishes. Twelve Oaks offers the kind of architectural variety typical of Weekley’s communities, with choices ranging from Mediterranean to French country.

Plans available in Twelve Oaks include the Strata (2,769 square feet, from $499,000); the Boulevard (3,165 square feet, from $539,990); the Kimblewick (3,111 square feet, from $585,990); the Suntree (3,257-3,269 square feet, from $597,990); the Glenrock (3,556 square feet, from $619,990); the Carverdale (3,740-3,820 square feet, from $644,990); and  the Elaine (3,975-3,981 square feet, from $679,990).

David Weekley Homes is building throughout Central Florida, including Spring Lake at Celebration (Celebration); the Gardens at Park West (Winter Park); Evans Square and Oviedo on the Park (Oviedo); Griffin Park (Lake Mary); John’s Lake Landing (Clermont); Laureate Park (Lake Nona); Oakland Park (Winter Garden); and Reagan Pointe (Sanford).

The Houston-based company, now the largest privately-owned homebuilder in the U.S., has sold more than 70,000 homes in 18 markets since it was founded in 1976. Professional Builder magazine, the homebuilding industry’s leading business publication, named David Weekley Homes its Builder of the Year in 1990 and 2013. It’s one of only two builders in the magazine’s 77-year history to receive this honor twice.
