IT'S TIME TO LOVE YOUR LIFESTYLE
With so many neighborhoods — and dozens of nationally renowned builders — competing for attention, new-home shoppers are certain to find more choices than they can possibly assimilate in just a couple of visits.
Here are some of the Horizon West neighborhoods that have debuted in the past year or so.
Royal Oak Homes is building in Black Lake Preserve, with 91 oversized homesites and a variety of floorplans from which to choose. There are two privacy-gated entries, and new middle and elementary schools are within walking or biking distance. Amenities include a well-equipped children’s playground.
Many homesites have water or conservation area views. Homes range in size from 2,575 to 5,233 square feet and are priced from the $330s to the $460s.
Cypress Reserve by Taylor Morrison Homes is a traditional neighborhood in which the streets are walkable and the homes have front porches. Charming one- and two-story designs are available, with plenty of personalization options.
Homes, many of which have conservation-area views, range in size from 2,200 to nearly 4,300 square feet and are priced from the $290s to the $390s.
Boasting Johns Lake frontage, Twinwaters by Meritage Homes offers amenities including a park, a playground and a pool and cabana. Homes range in size from 3,017 to 5,600 square feet and are priced from the $350s to the $640s.
Also in the area around Johns Lake is Waterside: The Landings and Waterside: The Strand, both by CalAtlantic Homes.
Waterside: The Landings, which is less than two miles from Winter Garden’s Downtown Historic District, boasts 34 homesites with private docks directly on Johns Lake. Homes range in size from 2,697 to 3,698 square feet and are priced from the $470s. Waterside: The Strand features impressive luxury homes ranging in size from 4,154 to 5,124 square feet and priced starting at $1.3 million.
CalAtlantic has also opened Windstone, near the popular Butler Chain of Lakes, which features elegantly appointed homes ranging in size from 2,321 to 3,769 square feet and priced from the $360s to the $540s.
Pulte Homes last year opened Lakeview Point, which offers homesites on quaintly named Lake Huckleberry. The neighborhood boasts a mix of single-family homes (1,953 to 4,201 square feet, priced from the low $200s to the $640s) and townhomes (1,464 to 1,825 square feet, priced from the low $200s). Amenities include a pool, a clubhouse and a passive park.
Waterleigh, by D.R. Horton Homes and its subsidiary, Emerald Homes, is Horizon West’s biggest neighborhood, and could ultimately contain up to 3,600 homes.
The 1,400-acre site, near the Horizon West Town Center, is dotted with more than a dozen lakes, so many homes will have water views. Amenities will include a 5,000-square-foot lakeside clubhouse with a fitness center and multipurpose room, and a 2,000-square-foot lakefront pool with a beach lounge area.
Also planned are grilling and picnic stations, beach volleyball and interactive exercise stations, two fishing and observation piers (one located on a 700-foot peninsula), a dog park, a tot lot, a community garden, a miniature golf course and a nature trail.
Homes range in size from 1,689 to 3,911 square feet and are priced from the $230s to the mid-$700s.
The Highlands at Summerlake Groves by K. Hovnanian Homes, which encompasses both townhomes and single-family homes, offers townhomes from the low $200s and single-family homes from the mid-$200s to the low $400s. Amenities include tennis courts, a swimming pool and a tot lot.
Toll Brothers has debuted Lakeshore, a luxury community with an amenity center, neighborhood parks, and biking and walking trails. Townhomes are priced from the $270s, while two single-family home collections are priced from the $370s to the $560s, respectively.
Developer Scott Boyd, president of Boyd Development Corp., has announced that a new proton therapy center — the latest in cancer treatment technology — is slated to be part of a new medical complex in Hamlin. Proton therapy is a type of radiation treatment that uses protons rather than X-rays to treat the disease.
The new proton therapy center will be developed and operated by a joint venture between Knoxville, Tennessee-based Provision Healthcare and Hamlin Retail Partners West, an affiliate of Boyd Development and Orlando-based Schrimsher Properties of Central Florida.
The center will encompass three treatment rooms and use the latest proton systems technology of Provision Healthcare affiliate ProNova Solutions LLC. It’ll be able to treat an estimated 1,000 patients per year.
There are fewer than 25 proton therapy centers operating in the U.S., including one at the UF Health Cancer Center-Orlando Health campus near downtown.
In addition, the Provision Healthcare-Hamlin Retail Partners West joint venture also plans to develop related medical office buildings and cancer treatment facilities on the campus.
“The Hamlin proton center will be a great addition to the medical community and a real benefit to the residents of Central Florida,” Boyd said in a press release. “We look forward to Provision bringing their state-of-the-art technology, along with their culture of care, to our Central Florida community.”
Meanwhile, Orlando Health will make its move in Horizon West when it breaks ground on a $45 million, 70,000-square-foot free-standing emergency department before year’s end.
