PENN PLACE OFFERS LUXURIOUS LIVING IN HISTORIC WINTER PARK

Winter Park has been one of Central Florida’s most prestigious addresses since, well, the 1880s, when it was founded as a seasonal getaway for wealthy northern industrialists and their families. Some of those early residents became so enchanted with the place that they built permanent homes and became year-round residents.

But in a small, compact city more than 125 years old, it can be difficult to find new homes with all the bells and whistles than it is in the ’burbs. That’s changing, however, as builders are scouting out highly desirable infill lots and replacing dated homes with modern showplaces.

Penn Place, developed by Oviedo-based Hill Gray Seven and built by Winter Park-based Zoltan Construction, is an ideal example. It’s a small but ultra-luxury townhome project — just four units — with a location to die for: just a short walk from Park Avenue, the region’s most renowned shopping, dining and cultural district.

And it gets better. The Winter Park Ninth Grade Center is virtually across the street, and the eastern entrance to Mead Garden, one of the region’s most treasured ecological treasures, is just blocks away. The historic neighborhood in which Penn Place sits is highlighted by brick streets shaded by 100-year-old oak trees.

No wonder executives of Hill Gray Seven — which is also developing Park Hill, a super-luxury townhome project on North Park Avenue — don’t expect they’ll have any difficulty selling out Penn Place, which had just been completed at press time, in short order.

Located on the southwest corner of Pennsylvania and Minnesota avenues, the two-story townhomes were designed by Maitland-based Slocum Platts. The homes are 3,300 square feet, with either three or four bedrooms, along with elevators, high-style finishes, private courtyards and two-car garages. They boast 11-foot ceilings on both floors, premium appliances in the kitchen and interior design by Mark Rash Interiors.

Builder Zoltan Kecskes, owner of Zoltan Construction, knows plenty about luxury homebuilding. He earned acclaim in 2014 with a 15,125-square-foot mansion, located in Oviedo, that won the prestigious Grand Award in the Spring Parade of Homes, sponsored by the Greater Orlando Builders Association (GOBA).

Prices at Penn Place are about $1.3 million. For more information, visit hillgrayseven.com or call 407-588-2121.
