EVERY YEAR, LAKE NONA'S STORY GETS MORE EXCITING
By Randy Noles
Every year, Florida Homebuyer Orlando produces a special section with news about Lake Nona, its Medical City life-sciences cluster, and the communities in and around the hottest and most innovative master-planned development in the region.
You’d think we’d eventually run out of news. But every year, there’s more to tell. This year, we look at how the emerging Sports & Performance District is reshaping the community with world-class athletic facilities — and taking the health and wellness component to a new level.
There’s the USTA National Campus, scheduled to open as the “Home of American Tennis.” And there’s the Orlando City Soccer 23-acre training center.
Synergies between sports groups and the hospitals, colleges and research institutes of Medical City are obvious — and are already resulting in partnerships that will have long-lasting impact on the region.
Then, of course, there’s the booming Town Center and an array of new-home developments. More than 500 homes were sold in Lake Nona in 2015, placing it among the Top 10 master-planned communities nationwide. And that’s just homes within Lake Nona proper. Communities on its periphery are booming as well.
A dynamic project like Lake Nona, which has so many ever-expanding components, tends to be covered by the media in bits and pieces, as major announcements are made. In this special section, however, we strive to assemble all the pieces and offer a comprehensive, big-picture overview.
As always, we think you’ll be amazed. I know we are.
