There are new neighborhoods galore in Horizon West. Among them are privacy-gated Black Lake Preserve by Royal Oak Homes. The William model, at 5,230 square feet, is the largest floorplan Royal Oak has offered to date. It's priced starting at $479,999.

AN AMAZING ARRAY OF HOMES

With 52 active neighborhoods underway at Horizon West — up from 19 at the beginning of last year — it’s obvious that the region’s builders are betting that the burgeoning area is going to continue to be a favorite among buyers.

With so many neighborhoods — and dozens of nationally renowned builders — competing for attention, new-home shoppers are certain to find more choices than they can possibly assimilate in just a couple of visits.

Here are some of the Horizon West neighborhoods that debuted in 2015, or will debut later this year or early next year.

Royal Oak Homes is now building in Black Lake Preserve, with 91 oversized homesites and a variety of floorplans from which to choose. 

There are two privacy-gated entries, and new middle and elementary schools are within walking or biking distance. Amenities include a well-equipped children’s playground.

Many homesites have water or conservation area views. Homes range in size from 2,575 to 5,233 square feet and are priced from the $340s to the $480s. 

Cypress Reserve by Taylor Morrison Homes is a traditional neighborhood in which the streets are walkable and the homes have front porches. Charming one- and two-story designs are available, with plenty of personalization options.

Homes, many of which have conservation-area views, range in size from 2,200 to nearly 4,300 square feet and are priced from the high $200s.

Boasting Johns Lake frontage, Twinwaters by Meritage Homes offers amenities including include a park, a playground and a pool and cabana. Homes range in size from 3,017 to 5,600 square feet and are priced from the $360s to the $600s.

Also in the area around Johns Lake is Waterside: The Landings and Waterside: The Strand, both by CalAtlantic Homes.

Waterside: The Landings, which is less than two miles from Winter Garden’s Downtown Historic District, boasts 34 homesites with private docks directly on Johns Lake. Homes range in size from 2,697 to 3,698 square feet and are priced from the $400s to the $500s.

Waterside: The Strand features impressive luxury homes ranging in size from 4,154 to 5,124 square feet and priced at around $1.3 million.

CalAtlantic has also opened Windstone, near the popular Butler Chain of Lakes, which features elegantly appointed homes ranging in size from 2,321 to 3,769 square feet and priced from the $380s to the $450s.

Pulte Homes has just celebrated the grand opening of Lakeview Point, which offers homesites on quaintly named Lake Huckleberry. 

The neighborhood offers a mix of single-family homes (1,953 to 4,201 square feet, priced from the $250s to the $330s) and townhomes (1,464 to 1,825 square feet, priced from the low $200s). Amenities include a pool, a clubhouse and a passive park.

Waterleigh, by D.R. Horton Homes and its subsidiary, Emerald Homes, is Horizon West’s biggest neighborhood, and could ultimately contain up to 3,600 homes. 

The 1,400-acre site, near the Horizon West Town Center, is dotted with more than a dozen lakes, so many homes will have water views. 

Amenities will include a 5,000-square-foot lakeside clubhouse with a fitness center and multipurpose room and a 2,000-square-foot lakefront pool with a beach lounge area. 

Also planned are grilling and picnic stations, beach volleyball and interactive exercise stations, two fishing and observation piers (one located on a 700-foot peninsula), a dog park, a tot lot, a community garden, a miniature golf course and a nature trail.

Homes range in size from 1,689 to 3,911 square feet and are priced from the $220s to the $380s.

Opening in January is The Highlands at Summerlake Groves, by K. Hovnanian Homes. The neighborhood, which will encompass both townhomes and single-family homes, is now preselling townhomes at prices starting in the high $220s. Single-family home plans had not been announced at presstime. Amenities will include tennis courts, a swimming pool and a tot lot.

Next fall Toll Brothers will debut Lakeshore, a luxury community with an amenity center, neighborhood parks and biking and walking trails. Again, prices and floorplans have not yet been released.
