SOMERSET PARK ADDS TO CHOICES AT LAKE NONA

It’s no wonder that Lake Nona is the hottest new-home sub-market in the region. The explosion of high-tech medical treatment and research facilities, as well as the location near Orlando International Airport, are only two of the reasons that the 11-square-mile area is seeing unprecedented growth.

The other reason is the variety of housing styles now available. Lake Nona was once known primarily for its seven-figure custom estates behind the gates of Lake Nona Golf and Country Club. Of course, the exclusive club section remains one of the most desirable addresses in Central Florida.

But, with the advent of Medical City, an array of new neighborhoods offers the panache of a Lake Nona address without the million-dollar-plus price tag.

One of the most popular new neighborhoods is expected to be Somerset Park, which opened in May. It’s a gated enclave offering stylish homes by Century Homes and M/I Homes as well as a lavish array of amenities.

Somerset Park, which will include about 325 single-family homes when completed, will feature 44 miles of biking and walking trails, resort-style pools, sports fields, playgrounds and parks.

Homes will range in size from 1,699 to 3,873 square feet, with three to seven bedrooms. Some waterfront homesites are available, and prices start in the $260s. It’s zoned for top-rated public schools.

The 150-acre neighborhood is conveniently situated on Lake Nona Boulevard near Boggy Creek Road and S.R. 417 (also known as the Central Florida GreeneWay). It’s near all the Medical City anchors: the University of Central Florida College of Medicine, Nemours Childrens Hospital, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, the University of Florida Academic and Research Center, the VA Medical Center and the new GuideWell Innovation Center.

In addition, easy access to S.R. 417 puts you within 10 minutes of the airport and a rock’s throw from nearby Lake Nona neighborhoods, including Laureate Park, Village Walk, Waters Edge, Northlake Park and Water Mark. The Lake Nona Town Center is rapidly taking shape, and the attractions and downtown Orlando are a relatively easy drive away.

At Somerset Park, M/I homes is rolling out eight floorplans ranging in size from 1,758 to 3,873 square feet. Century Homes is offering a dozen floorplans ranging in size from 1,699 to 3,830 square feet. A model-home showcase is now open.
