WEAVING A TAPESTRY IN OSCEOLA COUNTY

FEATURED COMMUNITY

Few Central Florida new-home developments have such an appealing — and appropriate — name as Tapestry, a 250-acre master-planned community in Osceola County.

A tapestry is a work of art woven by hand, using colorful interconnected threads to create a picture or a design. Tapestry, the community, is being fashioned in much the same way, weaving together an array of housing styles with lavish amenities and wooded preserves.

Activity there is expected to rapidly accelerate now that Canadian-based Mattamy Homes has bought the property for a reported $15 million. The company will build up to 1,100 homes, with prices starting in the high $100s.

Beazer Homes was already building in Tapestry when Mattamy entered the picture, offering three models from its Classic Series (from $231,990) and nine models from its Traditional Series (from $249,990). Beazer’s neighborhood, The Reserve at Tapestry, with 282 homesites, has several move-in-ready homes.

Also tapping into Tapestry is Park Square Homes, which last year announced plans to build 325 single-family resort homes at its Sonoma at Tapestry neighborhood. Prices have not been announced and sales are expected to get under way in the fourth quarter.

Tapestry will boast a decidedly upscale ambience, with a dramatic stone entry and landscaped main boulevard. Its lakes, ponds and wooded preserve areas highlight the site’s natural splendor. The amenity complex will include a clubhouse, cabana, pool, playground and parks.

Kissimmee, where Tapestry is located, is near the region’s major attractions and offers an easy commute to Medical City in east Orange County. It’s also convenient to S.R. 417, also known as the Central Florida Greeneway, as well as Florida’s Turnpike.

Shopping, dining and entertainment abound at The Loop, with its big-box retailers, boutique shops, movie theaters, popular restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies. The complex is within walking distance of some homes.

With all that going for it, expect Tapestry to emerge as one of the hottest live-work-play destinations for Osceola County families who want an affordable new home in a conveniently located commuintiy packed with amenities.
