LIVING IN HARMONY HAS A WHOLE NEW MEANING

Publisher's Pick: Community

From the very beginning, the Central Florida community of Harmony was going to be different kind of development. The concept was to create an entire town committed to living a healthy lifestyle, in a sustainable home and in close contact with pets, wildlife and nature.

And that’s exactly how it has turned out. With more than 70 percent of Harmony’s 11,000 acres set aside as dedicated green space, every home is within walking distance of parks and habitat areas.

Harmony’s on-site conservation program further enhances the “green living” experience. The two lakes located within the community are equipped with non-fossil-fuel vessels that can’t be moved from lake to lake, thereby avoiding any cross contamination.

Residents can also enjoy miles of interconnected paths, sidewalks and trails, bringing them closer to the flora and fauna of Old Florida. In addition the community boasts athletic courts and fields, a community activities program and an 18-hole championship golf course that’s also a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.

Reminiscent of small-town America, all three schools serving Harmony’s students are within walking distance, as is a growing retail district and a variety of restaurants. Additionally, Harmony is home to several community festivals, including the annual Dark Sky Festival, Music & Arts Festival and Winter Festival.
