SPRING VISIONS OF A TRAFFIC STOPPING FRONT YARD OASIS
Springtime in Florida is by far my favorite time of year. Every spring, I have visions that this will be the year when I finally have one of those traffic-stopping yards that will make all my neighbors insanely jealous.
But as a native Floridian, I know getting your lawn to look like something out of Better Homes & Gardens can be a bit tricky. In addition to water restrictions, many local counties and municipalities are limiting the variety as well as the amount of sod a builder may use. So finding the perfect plants and groundcover can been a problem.
In this issue of Florida Homebuyer Orlando, we talk to Kimberly Lacy, star of HGTV's Curb Appeal: The Block, who shares tips on how to add some "wow" factor to your front yard.
You can also visit with Kimberly at the Central Florida Home and Garden Show. She'll be there all three days (May25-27) and will be demonstrating fun and budget-friendly projects. Visit orlandohomeshow.com for more information.
Another great opportunity to get tips from landscape professionals is the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. Now through May 20, Walt Disney World horticulturists strut their stuff with dazzling Disney character topiaries and gardens filled with colorful flowers and perfectly manicured foliage. Find out more at disneyworld.com.
Once you've been inspired to transform your yard, be sure to read about the Florida-friendly foliage and landscape options we've located. They're drought-tolerant, will hold up well under the Florida sun and they're readily available right here, right now.
Enjoy this issue - and enjoy what's left of this beautiful Florida spring.
