The Best of Everything

????When I worked at city/regional magazines, the most exciting issue of the year was always the one in which the editors compiled “best of the best” lists encompassing categories ranging from best hot dog to best plastic surgeon.
????The lists weren’t scientific, of course, but they were fun and always stirred up discussion. So I figured the same concept could work in a magazine about homes.
????So, in this issue of Jacksonville Homebuyer, you’ll find our second annual “Best of the First Coast” compilation. But, because you’re reading this magazine to help you make homebuying decisions, our categories are all real-estate related.
????Like all lists of this nature, it shouldn’t be considered definitive. But I think you’ll enjoy reading it. At the very least, it will give you something to talk about as you’re visiting communities and choosing builders.
????In keeping with the “best” theme, this issue also features our annual compilation of Five-Star Real Estate Professionals.?
????Using an independent research firm, we polled thousands of recent homebuyers and asked them to rate the pros with whom they worked throughout the buying process. The resulting list reveals those who were singled out for their outstanding market knowledge and their commitment to customer service.
????Also in this issue, we introduce you to a young man about whom you’ll be hearing much more. Daniel Davis, executive director of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, was elevated to NEFBA’s top spot last year, when the legendary Arnold Tritt, who headed the association for more than three decades, decided to move aside and focus his effort on public relations and special projects.
????So Daniel had some big shoes to fill. But he has hit the ground running, initiating a huge “Buy Now” campaign and spearheading a historic partnership between NEFBA and JEA to promote environmentally friendly building.
????Plus, Daniel is vice chairman of the Jacksonville City Council—and insiders predict he’ll eventually hold higher office. But best of all, Daniel is a committed family man who loves his community (he grew up on the Westside) and wants to make it better.??
????And we’re still not done. This issue offers a special focus on remodeling, which is especially hot in Jacksonville thanks to the large inventory of older homes and historic homes. Remodeling can be an enjoyable experience if you do your homework, which is why you’ll want to read what the experts have to say before embarking on a project of your own.
????If that weren’t enough, we’ve also got the usual neighborhood roundups, school directories, comprehensive community listings and much more. I hope you enjoy this issue. We put it together just for you.
