1. The Monique Burr Foundation for Children recently raised more than $362,873, largely through the LandMar Group's annual Holiday in the Hamptons extravaganza and Jinglebells Golf Tournament. The proceeds were used to benefit more than 8,500 Jacksonville children through a number of area organizations, including The Boy's Home Association, the Children's Crisis Center, and the Monique Burr Child Safety Net Program, Fresh Ministries, The Sanctuary on Eighth Street LandMar President and CEO Ed Burr (center) presents a check to Vicky Watkins, executive director of The Sanctuary on Eighth Street.
2. Engle Homes, supported by a team of trade partners, became the first homebuilder in the history of the Northeast Florida Builders Association's Builders Care program to complete two concurrent home renovations in one week, spearheading work on the homes of World War II veterans George Swearingen and Bracel Freeman. 3. The 2006 Symphony Showhouse should actually be called "Showhouses." SRG Homes and Neighborhoods is building four single-family homes, each with a distinctive look and theme, near the corner of Fourth and Silver streets in historic Springfield for the October 7-22 event. The Showhouse project is the orchestra's primary yearly fund raiser. 4. The Jacksonville Housing Commission, a primary source for funding of the Northeast Florida Builders Association's Builders Care program, recently presented a check for $1.65 million to Builders Care Executive Director Bill Wilson. Jon Roberts has been appointed division vice president of Harmony Homes/A Drees Company. Roberts, who has spent almost 10 years with the Drees Company, will be in charge of managing Harmony's purchasing, estimating, construction and warranty departments. . Jacksonville-based D.R. Horton has promoted Kenny Johns to senior vice president of land acquisition. Johns will be in charge of procuring land for the company's growing product line throughout Jacksonville, Ocala, Melbourne, Daytona and Port Orange. ... ICI Homes has named Karen Sutherland North Florida Division vice president. She also remains director of marketing. . Ryland Homes promoted Sheryl Vaughn to marketing manager for the Jacksonville Division, responsible for all marketing, advertising and graphic design.
