IF YOU'RE IN THE MARKET FOR A HOME, THERE ARE PLENTY OF REASONS THIS ISSUE IS AN INDISPENSIBLE RESOURCE

If you're considering building or buying a new home, I'm really glad you're reading this issue of Florida Homebuyer Jacksonville.

If you’re considering building or buying a new home, I’m really glad you’re reading this issue of Florida Homebuyer Jacksonville.

In it, you’ll find our annual Book of Builders, which spotlights a selection of the region’s finest builders. It’s presented in a lively, reader-friendly fashion, and gives you a sense of the array of choices First Coast buyers have.

In this issue we also discuss home design trends. We talked to local and national experts to find out what’s happening in the areas of neighborhood layout, architectural preferences and home interiors.

It’s an interesting story, and I think you’ll agree that it demonstrates quite an evolution in thinking from just five years ago.

In addition, I really think you’ll enjoy the story on all the former Jaguars players who now call Jacksonville home. Remember, these guys could live anywhere they choose, but they’ve fallen in love with the First Coast for the same reasons so many of us have, including friendly people, a beautiful setting and an array of recreational opportunities.

Of course, as usual, you’ll find our directory of the region’s top new-home communities and up-to-date school grades.

Those are only some of the reasons that this issue is a keeper. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together for you.

Finally, with the holiday season approaching, I wanted to thank all the people who have been such big boosters of Florida Homebuyer Jacksonville over the years.

I just realized that 2013 will mark our 10th anniversary, which is a remarkable milestone in our business, especially considering the economic turmoil of the past few years.

To all the builders, developers, remodelers and suppliers who have continued to advertise through thick and thin, thank you. We wouldn’t be here if not for you.

And, as every credible study shows, companies that continue their marketing efforts during downturns come back faster and stronger when conditions improve.

So, with that in mind, let’s all enjoy the holiday season and look for better days ahead.
