Bringing it Together

This home, located in Long Point on Amelia Island Plantation, was built in 1995 and originally designed as an attached home or a duplex. However, the owners bought an adjacent two-and-a-half acres and hired Plantation Housing Corp. II to add a wing and turn the structure into one, cohesive, spacious home that would allow plenty of room for hobbies, entertaining and family gatherings.
The new wing included an office, a sewing room, a master suite with baths and a central tower as well as a cabana with living quarters above. Also new: a zero-edge pool and spa with a stone patio and a state-of-the-art outdoor kitchen.
The great room was originally built as two rooms with a corner fireplace, low ceilings and dark accents. Now it’s one beautiful open area featuring high-beamed ceilings, a central fireplace surrounded with paneling and a mantle by Woodmode, an entertainment center and an unobstructed river view.
The kitchen, which had white cabinets and occupied an ill-defined space, now boasts lush toffee-toned cabinets, a center island with an impressive granite finish and matching countertops. It reflects the owners’ desire to make the kitchen truly the heart of the home.
The expanded and reconfigured home is now a showcase for gracious and comfortable living on Florida’s waterways. Key suppliers included Atkinson Cabinetry, Belmarmi and Livewire Technologies.
Pictures tell the story of the amazing transformation of this previously attached home into a single-family stunner. The dreary great room now features high-beamed ceilings and a fireplace framed in rich wood. The dining room and kitchen now boast toffee-toned cabinetry.
At the rear of the home (below) is a zero-edge pool and spa with a well-equipped outdoor kitchen with an adjacent wet bar.
