Thanks, Good Neighbors

Northeast Florida’s builders and developers are second to none when it comes to generosity of spirit. They support countless worthwhile causes. They fund programs for abandoned and abused children. They provide shelter for the homeless and the destitute. They repair or build homes for deserving families who just need a helping hand.
The list goes on and on.? And that’s why we’re proud to once again partner with the Northeast Florida Builders Association for the annual Good Neighbor Awards, which gives these companies the kudos they deserve for helping to make Northeast Florida a better place in which to live.
Check out the recipients in this issue of Jacksonville Homebuyer. I think you’ll be impressed when you consider the number of lives these companies have touched through the activities and organizations they support or assist.
Also in this issue, we take a look at the real-estate market in Nassau County—both on alluring Amelia Island and the fast-growing inland areas around Yulee.
On the island, home to picturesque Fernandina Beach, land is running out, but there are some appealing boutique developments under way, some adopting the Traditional Neighborhood Development model with retro architecture and walkable common areas. On the mainland, amenity-rich, master-planned communities are popping up around the forests and waterways.
Either way, buyers are increasingly drawn to Nassau County both for its natural beauty, its rich history and its laid-back ambience.
And that’s not all. There’s also a roundup of the region’s top golf communities. Northeast Florida is, after all, home to the World Golf Hall of Fame (in World Golf Village) and the PGA Tour. So you’d expect the region to offer the best in golf-course living.
In addition, on a slightly different note, we take a look at the area’s coolest home furnishings and home decor outlets. Some of these stores are new and some are local institutions. Some are chains and some are mom-and-pops. But they all offer wonderful merchandise, sometimes one-of-a-kind items.
Finally, I wanted to alert you to our Web site, www.florida-homebuyer.com. The site has undergone an extensive redesign to make it more user-friendly. For example, you can now search the most comprehensive new-home community database available anywhere using a variety of criteria.
And there are a lot more enhancements coming to the Web site in the next few months. So, in addition to having the best print publication for new-home buyers, we’re also looking forward to having the best Web site.
So there’s plenty of news and information on these pages—and online. If you’re moving or planning to move, chances are we can tell you what you need to know. But if we’ve missed something, feel free to email me and let me know.
