Living On The Links
Golf-Course Lifestyles Abound In Jacksonville
With the PGA Tour headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach and the World Golf Hall of Fame located near St. Augustine, you’d assume that Northeast Florida would be a mecca for linkside living.
And so it is. Just ask Mike and Jill Bradberry, who recently moved to Amelia National Golf Club in Nassau County.
“We like country club living, and we moved here for the future.” Says Mike Bradberry. “Once this club is complete, it’s going to be really nice. The idea of being in a gated community appeals to us because we have two young girls, and I feel safer letting them ride their bikes. And, of course, I do play golf.”
But even non-golfers are flocking to master-planned communities built around signature golf courses. That’s because such communities generally boast an array of amenities, from waterparks to town centers. Golf-course living, then, encompasses more than just the game; it’s a lifestyle.
And it’s surprisingly accessible. From condominiums to mansions, homes in golf communities are available in all styles and price points.
Let’s have a look, county by county, at some of the area’s most popular developments. We’re concentrating on newer communities where substantial new-home construction is still under way. There are, of course, dozens of golf communities where resales are available.
St.? Johns County
By far the most renowned club in the region—and one of the best-known in the country—is TPC at Sawgrass, home of The Players Championship. Upscale communities are nestled around Pete Dye’s Stadium Course and Valley Course along with those surrounding the Ed Seay courses at Sawgrass Country Club.?
But St. Johns County boasts an array of equally prestigious communities where golf courses top the amenities lists.
