This year, in particular, members of the NEFBA Remodelers Council have been busily involved in events designed to help others. The NEFBA Remodelers Council’s Charity Golf Tournament, held at Deercreek Country Club, attracted more than 80 participants. The awards dinner—a Low Country boil—was provided by the tourney’s beneficiary, Builders Care, NEFBA’s non-profit arm.

Builders Care provides critical construction services to indigent elderly and disabled people. In addition, the Council held its First Annual Building Materials Garage Sale at the Whole Foods Market parking lot in the Mandarin Landing shopping center.

The sale benefited Builders Care and Angelwood, an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through group living, residential respites, summer day camp, behavior analysis, adult day training and supported employment.

With supplies and materials donated by NEFBA remodelers, builders and trade partners, shoppers selected from a wide assortment of quality building supplies including doors, windows, tile, countertops, lights and furnishings all priced well below wholesale. The event raised about $2,200.

Later in the year, more than 40 Council members and friends participated in the Sporting Clay Shoot, a fundraiser held at WW Sporting Clays. The event was capped by a traditional Southern barbeque hosted by Builders FirstSource.
